" My goal in sailing isn't to be brilliant or flashy in individual races, just to be consistent over the long run"
Dennis Conner.

Additional Crew.

Will "the Hat" Brooks has stepped in to join the guys at Morgat. With the return of Will the guys have a "known" entity running the middle of the boat. Geoff commented "his skill is way beyond his years, this guy has a level of experience that is second to none, it is great to have him back for this event"

New Crew Member.

The team welcom from this weekend Neville Herb. He joined the club at the beginning of the year and has a B14 that he is bringing back to life. Neville was 4th in the Albacore European Championships (in a borrowed boat). He will be joining the team on an "adhock" basis for the rest of the year. His first race will be this weekend so we wish him good luck.

With the Morgat event less than a week away. The boat is polished and the undercover will go on the boat on Monday. Russell has moved to his new house and Will is getting organised to meet with the guys at Dover on Wednesday. The weather for Morgat is looking great and the wind looks to be a nice force3 or "backstay humming force" as Will describes it.

The guys will be joined by Will from Falmouth. He is coming up to take of business in the middle of the boat. Will has also committed to the Eurocup event in Ostende and the Inlands for next Year.

Paul Ross will be joining the team on a regular basis. he will be sailing during Pyfleet Week and will also be doing the Nationals with us. Paul sails a Contender and laser Dinghy as well as sailing on a 707 out of Harwich.

About TeamB4Ego

Whenever people get together for a "team" event or are in a situation whereby they have a chance to stand out, there are Egos and those Egos can lead to argument and conflict and the "team" not pulling together because of the "Egos" wanting to play their part.

When people realise that to put their Egos aside and work for the team is more important, then they achieve "TeamB4Ego" and with that they get harmony with each person doing their part for the TEAM.

Meet the Team

Geoff Gritton

Geoff Gritton - Skipper

He just concentrates on boatspeed from the owners enclosure.

Kevin Butler - Middleman.

Due to personal and holiday commitments we will not be sailing with Kevin as much as we would like to have done this year.

Russell Dent

Russell Dent - Bowman

He is the kite up and down and looks after the ropes and makes most of the tactical decisions. His Asymetric knowledge is a real strength to the boat.

The Boat.

The boat is a laser SB3 and the number is 3516. The boats name is BSBS. This stands for Brightlingsea School of Boat Speed. It derives from an ISO National Championships in Looe in Cornwall in 1996, when the first 5 boats were from Brightlingsea.
