Smoothey is more than a drink
We all know how easy it is to make a boat look shiney and smooth. On a boat with a coloured hull it is REALLY easy…On a grey hull…Then it has to be really special. Geoff has been using the A Glaze products now for 7 years. Whilst being a 3 stage process of wash the boat…Then apply a VERY mild rubbing compound then the sealant..It is all very worthwhile as the results are the best. It also forms a barrier against harmful UV rays and all the boat requires after use is a wash with a hose and in the worst case some A Glaze soap to get the finish back again.
Once you have used this product you will never use anything else. The small boat kit provides enough product to keep even Geoff happy for endless hours of polishing. The team also use the Carbon Fibre sealant on the pole of the SB3.
English Braids
A big thanks to English Braids as the supplier for ALL the rope for the SB3. The new Olympic rope for the jib sheets is great it stretched the first time it is used…then settles. It doesn’t hold any water so stays light and very useable in ALL conditions.
The ropes also come in some great colours and even Geoff can’t get confused with the different control lines. In this day of different teams it is great to be able to say pull the yellow one and the choice is obvious.
Rope is rope right?...NO Wrong their is rope and their is English Braids. We have NOT had one single failure this year due to rope letting us down…can you say the same!!
Crew Fuel
Ok…So how do we describe this “stuff”....The team have been using it since the beginning of the season and…well…It is the best.
The drinks are mixed before the start and put in the Crew Fuel bottles and they really do taste great…The guys voted Blackcurrant…But Geoff loves the Orange and Tina rolls with the Tropical.
The energy meals were used during the recent SB3 Worlds. The powder was put in the shakers and then in a dry bag with a couple of 1litre bottles of water. The meal was then mixed and consumed in between races and really hit the spot.
The bottom line is this Crew\Fuel have really got their act and product together. We have yet to find anything that doesn’t work…This stuff really does do what it says on the box…If you are a crew it will fuel you ALL
Spinlock Tiller Extension
Well what is there to be said about this extension… Geoff loves the way it can be extended for tacking and gybing..The way it can be disconnected from the tiller when putting the rudder on or off the back. That very satisfying “clunk” as the button is pushed and it extends to the maximum without missing a beat.
As for the colours, once again thinking “outside” the box has and will pay dividends… As Geoff wants the complete set and will use the colour that suits the day…
Spinlock Zero Sailing Vests
The guys are entering their second year with these vests and they still get plenty of great comments from whoever wears them.
Everyone that wears them all say that they really don’t “feel” like they have anything on at all as the vests are very light and VERY non intrusive, and they did NOT feel encumbered at all, which is really important in light air and when life gets a bit “hectic” in a blow….
Geoff commented “as soon as I took the vest off I realised that I was dry, Spinlock have set the bar at a new height, that will be very hard to match!”
Impact Protection Kneepads
All the crew wear these. Russell kneels down to do “stuff” and Geoff will sometimes kneel during a gybe.
They both like the grip when wearing just shorts, and the adjustment to them.
Washed after each use they take about an hour to dry.
Geoff has just taken delivery of the new design knee pads and they are EVEN better than the originals.
